Little Quirks

From the first day we met, Zach and I have been getting used to each other's little quirks. It's been a lot of fun to discover them all. At first I didn't get to see a lot of his, it was mostly him just getting used to me being my crazy, odd self. He went along with me the whole time as I dragged him skipping through the parking lot, painting his face blue, rolling down a hill, dying his hair pink and even playing on a bunch of kiddie toys including a merry-go-round. He's been quite the sport! But still I think my favorite thing now is watching him come out of his shell. For instance, we have never once had a first fight. Instead, we just growl at each other til we're both laughing. We may not agree on everything, but there's never anything we can't work out or talk out with each other. I've also found out that his favorite part of doing laundry is cleaning the lint catcher and he'll even skip willingly with me now and paint with me too! We make up our own games and it's great to watch him get competitive and then humbled when I beat him! ;) I can even get him to dance sometimes when I ask really nicely! I can't wait to see what else he'll do throughout the rest of our lives. I'm so lucky to have an amazing and wonderful husband like him!! <3

Finally Finals!

Now I know that basically everyone in the world hates finals (and I'm sure I would too if I were in school), but as a stay at home mom/wife, I'm super excited for the rapid approach! This means that Zach will be able to get his much needed break and have more time to focus on finding a job. It will be so nice to have him around more. Lilly is such a Daddy's girl it's crazy. I can usually just tell her that daddy will be home soon and her face lights up and she starts to smile like crazy. If I try to 'talk' with her like Zach does she cries at me because she knows that it's not daddy and she gets sad. It's really cute actually! I love that she's already sucking up to him because she knows that he'll be the softie when she's older ;) All in all life is great and I love all the many blessing that I have <3

The Joys of my life

The past weekend was a great one! My back had been hurting a lot so my wonderful husband helped me the whole time by trying to take care of Lilly when he could, making me a big breakfast on Saturday of waffles, bacon, eggs and orange julius and he even took me on a picnic to get some fresh air. I feel very lucky and blessed to have a wonderful husband like him!
The only downside to this past week was the fact that Lilly has decided she hates going to bed now and will cry and scream until close to midnight before we can get her down. I also found that I'm having the hardest time letting her cry herself to sleep. The last few night, close to 11 p.m., Zach convinced me to put her down and let her cry but after 5 min. of listening to her bawl I'd give up and try rocking her to sleep again. I wonder if this happens to all new moms or just me?

However, we did find out that we can sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to her and she will usually sit and listen to us instead of crying.

I really do love watching her face light up with a huge smile and listening to her giggle (kind of). I can't wait to hear her real laugh for the first time!! I just love being a new mom! There's absolutely nothing as crazy, hard, fun and rewarding as this. I'm just so blessed! <3

Sleep Adjustments

Lilly just turned a month old about a week ago and there is already a HUGE change! She is starting to sleep at least 5 hours a night now HOORAY!
She still hasn't been able to see a doctor as of yet, but luckily she just got accepted for medicaid, so we're hoping to find a pediatrician soon. However, the last time she was weighed she was 7lbs 12oz and I'm pretty sure she's gained quite a bit since then. We're just lucky she hasn't gotten sick or had any problems. She is extremely healthy and growing well!

I don't think I could have ever asked for a more perfect baby though. She is hardly ever fussy except at night right before bedtime for some reason still unknown, she sleeps like a rock once she gets to sleep and is extremely good around company, allowing everyone to hold and fawn over her for long periods of time. We were blessed to be able to go back to church two weeks after I had her and she still has never gotten fussy in the middle of the lesson, unless she's hungry, but even then I only have to take her out for a few minutes before she's content again.

All in all, it's good to be a mom:)
